Come on someone must be up for it.

especially with early chims being at a bargain price at this time of year...

I reckoned i could take a standard 4tlr bung in a cage, race seat, harness and a set of nitrons and it would whup ass in class A of the TVRCC challenge series and still be road legal and fully trimmed.

I was very tempted untill a tuscan challenge car my way. which incedentaly is currently being fitted with an ex chim 4ltr. Planning to make the 5ltr Griffs in B eat dust

For a moment I was tempted to suggest a V8S as a better starting point, but there are more Chimaeras so the loss of one or two to racing is less of a shame. How good are the tech regs at levelling the playing field? I'm sure there is some advantage to be found!

The Original reason the regs were opened up were to allow the S peeps that had expressed interest to join,. but they seem to be more mouth than trousers

I reckon there are a couple of well setup S's that could show a few cars a clean pair of heals.

The regs are quite good at leveling things, we managed some close racing last year.

Everything is done on power to weight, so that levels things quite well..

I'd love to see some tweeked road cars coming out to play.

Being a Chimaera Owner I was very close to picking up another early car and racing it myself in semi road trim but the lure of the Tuscan was too much. so someone else will have to pick up the mantle.

AN S would be great and as a starting point it must be better than a wedge...

mind you i know where there is a Pink wedge for hire next season

Its not so much the loss of a car, more setting it free

So what class would this 5 litre Chimaera be in, given that it has non-standard suspension and brakes?

Does it have a non-standard bulge in the bonnet too Jeremy, or is it a dodgy reflection?

Standard bonnet, so dodgy reflection I reckon.

The classes are based on power to weight figures..

so a 5ltr would probably be in class B with the Griffs and the turbo tasmins...

if the calipers are different and the brakes are bigger than 273mm you will have a penalty added to the weight limit ( the car will be over this so not really a problem) and this penalty is also used when calculating your power to weight.

ALthough dependant on the actual power output you could maybe balast it to run in A...

as long as the suspension mounting points are in the same place no problem. one of the griffs in B runs nitrons and modified wishbones to make them adjustable.

all you'd need to do to that is bung in a race seat, cage, cut out and a fire extinguisher and your away.
