Has anyone had a leak like I have, and fixed it?

After heavy rain like last night, if I take the car out I will get a wet right ankle on the first left bend, and a wet left ankle on the first right bend. We have resealed both brake and clutch reservoirs.....any other thoughts where it might be getting in, please? I can do without nasty cold shocks this morning, and I don't like looking like I missed the urinal in the motorway services..... grumpy

sounds like if you have resealed the usual suspects!!, then l would check around the window seal and the base of the wipers as they disappear into the body. If you have not already, try captain tolley sealant around the base of the wipers . its 100% clear so can't be seen and runs into all the cracks and seals them up. l also used it on my rear lights to cure my misting problem as silicon can crack after time.

This 100%

My leak was actually the bottom windscreen seal rather than the wipers. Lift the plastic trim at the bottom of the windscreen, a bit of the captains sealant and then restick the windscreen trim back in place.

Good luck.

Thanks all - sounds like that would solve your misting rear lights too, Daz.
Mat Smith did the re-sealing of the reservoirs, so I have no doubt in my mind that he did a proper job.
I shall order some of the Captain's sealant immediately.

I think my misting problem is not the perspex cover but the light unit .. Does it need to be air tight ?

Have a look at the top of your dashboard at the windscreen, I could see the water sitting on mine and it was when I went around the corner that it would dribble off the end onto my leg.

My rears have gaps and never misted.

You probably have dampness in the boot condensing on the cold Perspex covers.

Make sure boot is 100% watertight.

Took an economy Chim (only using 6 cylinders hehe ) out this morning. No wet ankles.

Stalled it at a roundabout, wouldn't restart. Called Mat, he suggested that the immobiliser may have disarmed the fuel pump (but not the starter). Locked, unlocked, started first time.

Bloody thing still trying to stall at every junction until thoroughly warm, so I will be cleaning the stropper motor this afternoon. furious

You'll probably need to clean the plugs to restart on all 8.

Thanks Peter, all solved. Took it for a blast down the dual carriageway once it was warm, and that seems to have cured the poor running without removing the plugs. Mine seems very susceptible to running on less than 8 if it gets at all wet while standing, but it clears within a couple of miles normally. This "not holding an idle when not hot" seems to be a new niggle sent to try me.

Only took 14 posts.......!
Great thing about the Chimaera sitting position is that, at my age, prostate and pressure, I shouldn't get wet ankles, Doc..... confused

It's worth checking you haven't got a plug lead shorting, I missed the fact a plug shroud had spun around so the rubber was resting on manifold, melted clean through and miss firing all over the place! Always worth checking on a regular basis. I'm going to get the thermo protectors around them.

Mine had same, sealed all usual suspects still leaking, last time in at Xworks Heath said it was coming in through the door and not escaping by the drain holes, has been resealed and cleaned out no wet feet after the last 2 downpours, so maybe worth looking at

That's interesting - the water seems to be lodged on some kind of ledge above my ankles, and a nice cold deluge hits each ankle in turn from above, depending on the direction of cornering.

It's a nice bright day, so i will get upside down in the footwell and see where it is coming from....and hence where it is getting in.

It must be directly underneath the wipers/screen edge area, but I hear what you are saying about the door possibly leaking.

Just speaking the obvious but you do have the 'dent' in your door seals at the bottom don't you?
