Not a lot of hot air?
Discussion
The heater in my newly acquired Chimaera does not get very hot given the size of the V8. The two vents in front of the gear lever blow a good amount of hot air but the ones in the driver's and passenger's footwells blow little or none. Is this just the way it is? Or is there a solution? Any ideas gratefully accepted.
Is your temp gauge behaving?
I had very little heat but my temp gauge was all over the place. Reading about 55 until I hit traffic then my gauge would rise and then I would get hot air. As soon as I was on the move again my temp gauge would start falling back to 50-55 and then loose the hot air again.
Mine had to have a new 82 Deg thermostat, thermostat HSG gasket, heater control box and replace the heater ECU.
In my head I thought I was just needing a new Thermostat, but the work was carried out by Power who have one of the very well respected names in our circle.
I now have very accurate temp reading and hot air comes within minutes of driving with a toasty hot gear knob.

Hi folks,
Thought I might jump in on this one as I actually have the opposite issue.
In my 500 the heating / cooling vents fire out hot air all the time, even when I have it set for cool air; and when I say hot I mean it!
When I turn the fan on full and move the control wheel down to the coldest setting I sometimes get coolish air, but in general it basically just decreases to a mild heat from its normal surface of the sun type hot.
I have also found that if I move both control wheels back and forth a bit and play with the fan setting it occasionally chucks out cool air, but then next time out its roasting again.
Any thoughts? Temp guage reads between 70 and 90 but I do find myself worrying a bit about overheating when stationary. Car has its original radiator and has just had a full 12k service and check over.
Could I have a duff thermostat in there somewhere? I'm not familiar with the cooling system yet - but do have the Bible so will look at this carefully tomorrow.
Cheers

Check the valve that controls the heater pipes in the passenger footwell. It's well known to stick open or not fully close allowing hot water to circulate even though you have returned it off. Thought I might jump in on this one as I actually have the opposite issue.

Search the forum for heater valve and it will give you a better answer.
Good luck.
