Do you mean part ERC3933? you'll need to google it anyway I suspect.

You need to carefully tap the old one out of the rocker cover, put new one in the freezer for a day then push it in quickly.

ETA:
When you see the prices you'll quickly realize why I tap the rocker cover for a hose tail and pipe a hose to the air filter where I can insert the required restrictor....

I'd do like spend says and tap it out, but then you could just screw a barb straight to the rocker and have a mini K+N type filter fixed directly to the barb

Except you wouldn't have any PCV!!!!

The breather needs less than 30 thou orifice (30thou is std for LR and we rev more + higher capacity + CR + vacuum due to cam.... so less is implied & its an exponential relationship).

Agh ok, thats good to know. I was looking at it today when polishing the rockers and wondered why it was such a tiny opening

They don't fit very well Quinny. Have one in the garage! Daz, if I can find it, you can have it.

I drilled mine out a bit because of oil residue in the trumpet base . The whole is probably 3mm . Should i leave it or put a new one in ?

I've only ever replaced the foam filter and the plastic cap that holds the foam in place.....smile

Did it make any difference to the amount of oil being drawn into the plenum (and fouling the idle base setting screw/gallery + air idle bypass to stepper/valve) ie better or worse? Bearing in mind you just made the restriction 11x bigger (its CSA not diameter that matters).

I've had success making small orifices using a blob of epoxy to fill a hole, then inserting a sewing needle (of suitable target diameter) coated in ATF to form required hole. Just pull the needle out to leave the desired hole when the epoxy has gone off.

That's what I ended up replacing and gave the old valve a clean... It was purely to have a shiny new one, but it didn't fit!

No oil in the trumpet base and the engine idles perfect !

If it`s going to make it worse i will need a new one .

Daz, if you are not having any issues, leave it.

I opened mine very slightly because it was totally blocked. just used the smallest drill bit i had. I dont have any problems.

It can let a massive amount of air in & affect the idle as well as resulting in extra oil in the induction, but I suspect Daz's connection into the trumpet base might have been blocked off? Normally the extra flow created by enlarging the 'hole' would pull extra oil/air from the crankcase into the plenum (& trumpet base ~ 2 connections pre & post butterfly).

I wonder if the catch tank is collecting it ,my setup is standard except a break in the pipe with a ctach tank fitted and enlarged hole in the mushroom vent .

The engine idles nicely at 14.5 afr

Can anyone explain the reason there isn't a mushroom vent on the 4.6 range rover lump?
