I thought my clutch was worn out, it was slipping under load. Just as I got the trading estate last week, the clutch failed completely. He helped me push it the last 100 yards, wouldn't take up drive at all!

Turned out to be a seized slave cylinder and eventually the actuating rod bent. Clevor trevor supplied the needed rod I believe.

Another thumbs up from a pistonheads user, i.e. me, for Martin at Top Gear Automotive in Wolverhampton. It was threads on here that led me to him. Even delivered and collected me from near the station.

The bill ending up being about one third of what I had dreaded it might be. Car is much more sprightly off the mark and the clutch pedal sooooo much softer. If anyone else has a very stiff clutch, it could be your slave cylinder on the way out, although he said he hadn't seen one completely seize like that for years.

Oh, and my wonky idling when cold is due to me having a cheap 'chinese' stepper motor fitted apparently!

I've just got over a case of bent clutch slave push rod, the new one that came from Racing Green was reassuringly thicker/stouter than the original.

I'd also previously welded a thick steel plate on the release arm to stop the known problem of the slave push rod punching through it, it worked but the end result was a bent release arm.

There's a lot more mechanical advantage & power in the hydraulic system than you may imagine.
