First month and all's well
Discussion
Well I've owned my Chimaera 400 for exactly one month now and have done 1,398 miles with no problems. It's returned 23.7 mpg and on a trip to Durham returned 27.3 mpg on the A1M at a steady 70 mph. I'm really pleased with it. The only problem is that it's insured for just 3,000 miles a year so it looks as if I'll have to increase this. I fitted a Battery Brain as the alarm etc was discharging the battery. It is ok but when it cuts off the battery there is not enough power left to turn the starter motor but it's an easy way to cut off the power with the manual override button.
All in all a great first month.

Always glad to hear of another happy TVR owner. They are great cars for sure, Had mine for 18 months now and still loving it. where i live not a lot of people know what it is. not uncommon to find people standing looking at it and inquiring "what is it?" and "where was it made" etc.
looking forward to seeing a few more around as the NZ authorities have relaxed the rules regarding this type of vehicle.
nice to see them being reasonable about such things. Keep it between the hedges and enjoy.

Glad your enjoying the TVR lifestyle. I see the sun come out (occasionally) and once the though of popping out for a drive comes in to my head I have to re-schedule my day around it. I never get bored of driving anything, but the feeling of excitement and almost impatience I get when climbing behind Trevors wheel is like no other marque.
If I still own her in 10-15 years I plan to ship her to the States and spend 6 months driving coast to coast.
Probably a bit late this year, but when renewing your insurance, many insurers let you go up to 5000 for very little extra cost. I also found removing the 'business' aspect from my cover saved £80. I've been with Performance Direct for the last 3 years as they let you accrue NCD on a classic/2nd policy - most others don't. Lecture over...
Enjoy the summer matey.

I am with Classic Line and had to go unlimited mileage for the same reason. Not all insurers will let you do this, and if they don't, your insurance ends when you get to the mileage limit. That happened my first year, with Mannings.
I am not willing to compromise on mileage (I have done 18000 miles in 23 months), so paid the extra - my cover is £460 for unlimited mileage for a modified 500, with track day cover too. Worth every pee
