Hi all

My diff is leaking from the driveshaft seals, I am in the process of removing driveshafts to replace the seals but having trouble removing the driveshaft from the diff, wishbones disconnected and torx bolts removed from driveshaft, just the short remaining piece that actually goes into the diff is left, have tried using some persuasion to no avail! But don't want to do any damage, is there any hidden clips or pins that need to be removed prior to removal? Or is it just a case of brut force?
Any help would be much appreciated...

Driveshafts just unbolt.

Maybe persuade a little more.

Think he means the flanges that are left on the diff when the driveshafts are unbolted and removed ...are these held on by circlips inside the diff as they pass through the planet gears, and therefore rear cover off to access?

I'd have though its a bench job really, not something you can do in-situ?

GKN also have a clip on the outside of the casing under the flange, maybe a case of YMMV there seem to be 3/4 slightly different case versions / covers of GKN used from Tuscan through Griff/Chim?

OK just looked at my GKN diff that is on my garage floor waiting to be refitted and to remove the flanges you need to take out the circlips that are outside the diff. You will see 2 lugs these need queezing together.

I sceptically drained the level on mine down far enough to add some Millers Stop Leak, I was under the car at the weekend and so far (and touching wood) it appears to have done th trick, might be worth a try depending how bad your leak is, I paid abouf £7 for it from eBay.

After adding the addititve I took the car out for a decent run to get it mixed in and spread around the diff seals, the leak I did have was really minor so it might depend how bad yours is.
