I think this has been discussed on here before, It is certainly do-able however you wouldn't have a lot of choice re. Which box you use. I suppose the SD1 box would be your best (non 4wd) box. Think they used a Borg Warner 35 or maybe 45?Which are dated now but with a high stall torque converter and a shift kit for more positive shifts you might get away with it (I wouldn't try to put big hp through one of these boxes)„ There may be better 2wd rv8 boxes out there if you do some research. Then of course you would have to mod. The mount and prop. Shaft etc. I personally wouldn't want to do this to a Tvr but if It meant being able to continue to drive my car I.e. Loss of use of the left leg I wouldn't hesitate to do it. Cheers and good luck.

Nothing wrong with autos, I wouldn't buy a daily drive that wasn't.

I believe that there was one or two converted and why not, old school isn't rocket science.

Just to add, width of chassis rails might be a problem.

not know a chim with auto, but I've seen some M series and Vixen I believe with a auto box, but I also believe they were using older US engine's in those cars.

NZ fan is right re: Borg Warner 35 was used in the Leyland P76 which ran a stroked RV8 [4.4L]

I definitely recall a thread from a couple of years ago discussing this for use by a disabled driver.
Someone said they knew of one, griffith or chimaera in the west country that had been converted.

I think a small number of the 2.8 wedges had an auto fitted not sure about the v8 models though.

Borg warner Type 65 or 66 as fitted to Jaguar XJ would fit. They would also take the power. I know I raced one for 10 years in a Landrover Tomcat/Bowler.

Could a whole supercharged Jag engine and auto box setup be cost effective? Sertainly not lacking in power.

Space would be an issue. Id like to see an Audi 4.2 V8 in there though. 500 BHP is easily achieved with these engines and a lot lighter than a Rover V8
