Is this possible to retro fir to the fiesta light models? My search continues for a decent 98 onwards chim but I'm falling short. I know the newer lights can be purchased how about sorting the number plate?

The number plate housing is an integral piece of the fibreglass rear tub. No doubt someone with sufficient GRP skills could cut out the old housing and graft in a new but I would think this would be a difficult and therefore pricey task.

Changing to the later style rear lights is however a far easier task and has been covered extensively before. Fibreon do a kit of sorts.

IMHO the flat rear lit number plates look better any way and are more in keeping with the streamlined ethos of the chim.

I agree.

I had a 1998 Chim for a while with the backlit number plate and now a 2000 model with angled number plate.

The backlit plate looks far neater.

Best combo would be the later style rear lights and backlit number plate IMO.

Don't forget the witches nose boot lid and the lack of rubber insert on the 'bumper' for the later model if you want to complete 'the look'

And the wider vents, and bigger bulge near the wipers on the bonnet.

These features are all on my 97 model. New dash, buttons under mirrors, nose bootlid, no rubber on bumper. Still have fiesta lights and flat numberplate smile

On my fiesta lights i have painted 2mm stripes with red transparent paint over the orange and white parts, making the lights look uniform in color

Mine too. Mine is a 1997, all facelifted, except the rear lights and number plate.

I think the best bet is to hold out for the right car. In a ideal world it would be a blue with cream leather, face lift rear sorted 4.0 for around 10k. Am I asking too much!? I've missed a cracker yesterday too :-(

No you are not asking too much. You just might have to wait a while or compromise on the colour combo.

Cream (and for that matter magnolia) leather looks gorgeous when new and / or clean. However, it marks and shows dirt so easily, I now prefer dark. Mine are black. Downside is the burn risk when it is in direct sunlight!

I have black leather in my daily driver now, I've previously had lemon Dakota leather and that had to be cleaned weekly! Don't mind that though in a tvr :-)
