Tanked up in Manchester. Headed south to Rye, M40 then East on M25 into Q for Dartford Bridge, down M20 = 290 miles. Mostly 85ish with 3 stops took 5 hours.

Tanked up with 46.1 ltrs = 28.6 mpg. Happy with that

Great result, it just shows how practical these cars are.

Picked up our car from Lloyds yesterday straight from it's supercharger conversion. Couldn't have left at a worse time, rarely more than 65mph in heavy bank holiday traffic, roadworks and torrential rain. Even spent a total of one and a half hours standing in q's, thus 0mpg. So quite happy to use just under half a tank to cover 220 miles, not bad for a 4.6 SC.

That's actually pretty amazing. I reckon on just over 220 miles from a full tank!

Did you refill tank at the same fuel station and at the same pump to check consumption, therwise there could be a big error. Tesco gave me over 50mpg at nozzle cut off. Shell V power gave me a beleavable 23.6mpg at same no7 pump.

Sounds amazing, was it measured in some way, or based on the fuel gauge?

Probably got better fuelling as I assume the stepper motor has been replaced?
I could manage those figures if it was on a trailer, lol

I did a midnight drive up the M6 to Scotland once, about 65 ish all the way.
Managed 28 mpg. Well impressed I was.
Since it's been re built and tuned a little it's faster by miles but I can't get those figures anymore.

I asked re measurement because my 500 does about 20 mpg. Filled up on Thursday, and reset the trip. After 160 miles the gauge said half full.

Do I have a 16 gallon tank, or is the gauge non-linear? confused

I did run out a couple of weeks ago, having brimmed the tank earlier, with the gauge saying 1/8 of a tank left. Took the cap off, heard the air rush in, and checked the gauge again. On empty. Hmmmm.

I got 24mpg on a 400 mile round trip to Power earlier this month, all dual carriageway and M'way at (mostly) sensible speeds.
From full my fuel gauage reads 3/4 after 50 miles, 1/2 after 100 miles and 1/4 after 200 miles. On a right hand bend it'll go up as much as 1/4 tank, the opposite on a left hand bend. I know it'll do 250 miles on a fill so always brim the tank and reset the odo trip. Never trust the gauge!

Never trust any of the gauges!
Brimmed mine does 200 miles and is not much below half way up the gauge, then the last half goes in no time?
It's quite accurate low down though.
As is normal I fill up and go by my mileage as much as anything.
I that don't sound right Anthony!

As per the thread it was from brim-full to just under half, hence no mpg figures quoted. However I know from experience my gauge showing half does actually mean half a tank. Steady driving but lots of stationary q'ing too.

That's brilliant mpg then. Are we going to see your new performance at the TVRCC track day next month?

The primary benefit of forced induction is a significant improvement in volumetric efficiency.

This combined with the very low mechanical losses from the extremely efficient Rotrex supercharger actually has the potential to provide better economy under certain conditions.

In fact I'd be surprised if when cruising you didn't see at least a 5% improvement in fuel economy compared with when the car was normally aspirated.

I would be very interested to see some accurately measured figures to prove or disprove the theory, the biggest issue with this type of testing being controlling the urge to explore the substantially improved performance the blower gives, at which point it doesn't take a genius to realise the fuel economy will be substantially worse.

But I also expect when you're enjoying all that performance fuel economy will be the furthest thing from your mind, however if it is possible to exercise control & restraint for a measured brim to brim run over an accurately recorded distance we'll have our answer.

Of course in theory the turbo gang could well have an even greater advantage as they're just using energy the rest of us stupidly throw out our exhausts.

Come on FI guys, I know fuel economy was not why you did it but let's have your figures, they may just help us FI wannabes with our Man Maths wink

Yes measure brim to brim and only use the same fuel out of the same station fuel pump No 7 to the same fuel nozzle cut off point. Otherwise you will get a B..............dy big big error.

Picked my 4.0 ltr chim up from Bedworth, just north of Coventry to bring back to Fleet in Hampshire and went via Warwick , Moreton in Marsh, chipping norton(quick pint with the lads to show off my new car) then A34, M4 to reading and home to fleet, approx 120 miles and 4 gallons of fuel,
