After a catalogue of issues, I have finally got my Chim back on the road. It has been laid up for more months than I care to remember....

The brake discs are oxidised and are making a heck of a noise. Should I be OK just to run it for a few days and see how they clean up themselves with use?

Is that a posh word for rusty?

Should clean themselves with a bit of use but if you are concerned it's wheels off and a light rub over with some emery cloth (imho).

Aye, commonly known as rust!

Cheers. Hopefully they will clean up without any intervention (me doing anything) wink

If they arent too bad you should be Ok but of not I'd go the emery cloth route too. Just ensure they haven't warped - you'll feel this when you brake if they have.

If a little left foot braking doesn't clean them up, you could always get them blasted (bead or aluminium oxide) -- beats emery cloth and will clean out the vents, too.
