A block of wood against the sump bolts / flange is fine... Just avoid stressing / bending the sump pan.

Serps may need the oil pressure sender removing to avoid damage (I always move them to the side anyway ~ I hate them under the timing cover).

I've never seem how you can jack up on the pulley, but putting a 'safety net' block of wood across the chassis members under the pulley is wise ~ you can then push/pull the engine with impunity wink

Watch the pipework behind the engine, you can lift & trap / damage the fuel & electrics if not careful.
