I know this should be in another section but it is specific to our Chimeara's.

Has anyone got lap times for
Oulton park
Snetterton
Brandshatch
Mallery park
Donnington
Cadwell park
In fact any and all the major race circuits please.

If you have driver comments etc feel free to post.
Tyres, ambient temps, traffic
Just some idea
Mainly dry times but I'm happy to look at wet times also.
I really enjoy studying them. Cheers Alun.

I was lapping Cadwell yesterday just below 2 mins in a 4 ltr chim with a standard engine.
I recon if my discs hadn't warped there was a couple of seconds to be had.The steering wheel was nearly jumping out of my hands!
I couldn't keep up with the 5ltr boys on the straights though.

Just checked on video and I lapped Oulton Park full circuit in 2.10 last July.
Dry and ridiculously hot. I'll have a look at some other tracks if you like. That was on Dunlop DZ03G's. Not going to break any records but I was pretty happy with how it felt.

Right Andy that's helping hugely, my mate managed a 2.07 last week on new tyres( high tread blocks) in this Mazda.
Race pace is about 2.02 s. fking fast.
Yeah Andy when you get five minutes, it's mainly to give me a good idea of how hard it is and a bench mark in my own mind for when he's rattling around.

The car was set up with 2.5 deg camber front
3.0 deg camber rears!
This is how the car came, only just got it.
I think he needs to dial out a bit of camber he can't stop it without locking up, if he was more aggressive the car is set up about right.
Brakes who needs em!
He's going ok really, first time out for a few years and he didn't spin so a steady start I'd say.
If I can stand him long enough I should be going to a number of meetings with him, I'll obviously record lap times, be good to see where our cars fit in with the scheme of things!

About 4 years ago at Brands Indy, my friend had a camera in his griff, I was in the standard engined 4.6, (271 bhp) and our quickest laps were 57 seconds.

Out of interest, this is a good site.

You've nailed it for me Peter,
Two weeks ago at brands the pace in the Mazda mk3 champs was 56's but varied lots down the grid.
That's very exciting on two counts, the Mazda is fast
The Tvr's fly which is far more exciting.
For a road car with old difs and stuff. The Mazda's are stripped out inside and on full race shocks (Gaz) and a very aggressive geo so Peter you ain't Phazed at at,
That's fantastic mate,
That's the best news I've had since buying my car.
By that reckoning I'd be doing 53's then, lolololllololililollollypop.
Come on I like the banter,
That's really something.
You are in the car on your own to achieve 57's Peter ?
That's really quick, the Mazda looks bloody fast so you were really pushing on then.
Did you feel the car was flat chat or more to come, could you go faster with the right conditions?
Brands Indy I'm on about.

57 was the quickest at the time, we couldn't achieve faster.

Now with the new car I should be able to shave some off, hopefully I'll be back there do on as it's my local track.

Out of interest, when I was on the pit wall last weekend, the cars in the "Future Classics" race were doing 54-58 seconds mostly and it seemed mental fast from the wall at close quarters!

Looking at that time sheet I witnessed something very special at brands the other week
The MGBGT with a 4.0 flat plane RV8 set a record, 52 something and 53/ 55's in the race.
Slicks and proper brakes but 52,in an Mgb, it doesn't seem possible but it did have 420 bhp, he'd down tuned it from 440 bhp!
What a car and the driver drove the pants off it.
I went straight from the stands and straight to his car after the race, I knew I'd seen something I just didn't know what.

I thought that too, we went straight to the very end of the pit wall, where it starts and I was shocked by the wind and speed, as they flashed by.
You wanna see you go up Snetts start straight, it's not a quiet or slow business.
You'd do well in racing Peter.

I've had a good while to digest those lap times,
As brands is so tight that 57 sec lap Of Phazed is magic and I'm now confident in what the Chimeara is capable of on track in the right hands.
I've been trying to decide if a little old road car can really go race pace and it flaming well can.

I can appreciate the Chimeara more and more.
I've always wondered just how quick they are, felt really quick to me but never thought it would stack up against modern screamers.
I'm super impressed, can't wait to develope my car more now.

Hot off the press Alun, just checked a vid of Monday at Cadwell (18c sunny) and I lapped at 1.52 which I'm pretty chuffed with and I know there are places where I don't shove too hard so room to improve. I'm sure someone will rock up and say they can beat that on their aunt Doreen's mobility scooter but I was well pleased.

I looked at that before I posted, trust you to highlight it. laugh I'll bet that was before the new track limits rule and he cut across the dirt.
Does make you see just how good some people are though when you look at lap records and see you're 20secs off the pace.

Cheers Andy, 1.52 sounds darn good to me.

Cheers for that.

I assume that was the bcv8 boys?? They not on slicks!! They are anywhere from 1 to 3 seconds a lap slower now than when dad raced mgs with slicks on!

I was rather busy that day but I'm happy to be corrected, I had a lovely MBG but it didn't seem that quick, hahahah
Just shows you!

Your dad must have been having the time of his life , ctDave.
All I remember is seeing this MG and thinking that's crazy fast, accelerated like a motorbike and slammed through corners with contempt.
All the MG races were the most entertaining that day, some immaculate machinery, and loads of very competitive drivers really going hard at it.

I'm liking your car Dave. Mega.

Yeah he loved the old MG! It got written off courtesy of a Caterham hence TVR now. Dad and me built it and after dad almost won dtec championship in first year, sadly the big C had other ideas. I have raced it when pennies allow since he died.

Your dad was a natural, I'm sure your very proud of him, I've just looked again, your Tvr is fantastic, I love it.
I lost a great father two, my Tvr is the same colour of a fabulous car he had when I was a boy, I also know he had a huge interest in two seaters and Motorsport, he'd smile approvingly of a Tvr I hope.

These cars have our soul running through them!

My mate who's had brand new Tvr's drove mine off the ramp today, he's in love with it, he only went backwards?
He never said a word,,,,,,, just acted all loved up for the next few hours, Tvr's and some cars mean much more than I can explain.
I'll be rooting for you Dave.
