Previous owner of my chim looks like he had a crack at veneering/laquering the old dash on it, it looks absolutely dreadful. First job I did and it transformed the interior, of course it's your car and put stretched pig skin in it if it's your desire, but in my opinion a proper dash board is the only way to go.
Before....
After.....

This is carbon wrap over the steel, very smart and modern looking and cheap too.

Mine was done in vinyl to match the interior.

I put an almost new wooden one in mine and I love it, the shade of wood is vital mind.
My old one was all peeling off, I removed the rest easily and I now just have the metal backing hanging off the wall,
I like the idea of padded leather so the clocks sit Cosy in the leather, like old cars, I should experiment.

I have a rare stainless and carbon looky likey in the 4.6 complete with new switches and LEDs.

The colour of the interior is nothing like that, dam cameras!

Dunno what it is but I'm a big fan of that car. It's just sort of right.
Did you manage to repair your lovely wheels Peter.

3 light switches as original, a small LED above each one to indicate that they're on, a hand break warning light and the other 2 are the same as a standard dash, what ever they are!

I carbon wrapped my own dash just a couple of weeks back. It's VERY easy to do.
