I'm continuously getting a lean then ok then lean reading off one of my lambda's when using ecumate.
Can anyone point to the cause of these readings, I suspect I have a faulty lambda sensor B but if the lambda is ok what else would be the likely cause.
Lambda A is ready ok.
Thanks Alun

I do realise lean means a weak fuel mixture but because only one lambda is out of range would you guys presume a faulty lambda sensor before a fuelling issue?
Cheers Al

I dont know how Steve Heath programmed the short term trim point to show "lean" but basically you have an adjustment range of 256 steps- with 128 being the mid point- so when you get towards 0 or 256 it will be hitting rich or lean- but I really would not worry about it, the mixture bounces all over the place so may well hit "lean". If the car drives OK and the lambdas are moving Id ignore it. To get a better picture of what's going on fundamentally you need the long term trim as well, but the ECUmate cant read this value.

Thanks Mark, I had the car emissions tested today and it passed.
I might swap lambda's around to confirm if it's the sensor.
I worry it might be going lean up the rev range.
Well I've dropped a wrench onto the screen of ecumate !!! dhead.
I really enjoyed seeing more info on the engine management so I should and will be buying a little cable soon.

So can I get info on the fuelling etc as the car moves with your excellent software!
I've always been computer shy but I fancy getting into it more.

Interestingly I get 128 on the other lambda very regularly, it's quite balanced at around that number.

Dont worry about it leaning out at higher RPM- the engine does not use the lambdas above 3400 rpm anyway, so there is no additional fuel control, other than the sensor inputs.

Not my software- you can thank Colin and Dan Bourassa for it as freeware- I just put a interface cable with it so you can use it. Ping me you mail Ill send you the notes for it so you can see what it does.
