Hi all,

I am re-locating to South Wales (Brecon) in the coming weeks and have a Chim 400. My MOT is due in five weeks time and am looking for some advise on where to have this done. Some minor jobs also required. Any suggestions are very welcome.

I will also get along to the South Wales TVRCC meet on Sunday 13th July. Do I have the correct date? I take it that the location is as per the TVRCC website. This will hopefully give me a chance to meet some local owners and perhaps even someone who could look after an MOT?

Thanks,

John.

Hi Joh,
I'm down in Cardiff with a 450. You can pretty much use an MOT station for the Chimaera. However, make sure they are aware it has a limited slip differential in the back axle as these can be damaged on a standard brake tester. I use an MOTer in Llantrisant and they take it for a drive (usually with me) with an accelerometer device to measure the brake efficiency rather than putting it on the rollers.

As for repairs, I'm struggling myself to be honest. I try to do most myself but for the service stamp last time it went to Chepstow. They were good but very busy so the service plus a few other small jobs took a few weeks, which was a problem as I usually use mine daily.

Going to try another Chepstow-based lot this year unless anyone can recommend anyone else.

Hi John,

Welcome to Wales, or gods country as we like to call it. You've chosen a great location for TVR driving. Stunning scenery and some great roads.
If you come to Cardiff I can recommend Roath Garage. Peter has worked on TVR's for years and is very good. His number is 029 2046 5374.
Regards

Kim

Thanks for the suggestions smile

Yes, the roads are amazing and I did have drive through some already. I can't wait to explore further. I'm coming from Manchester so it will make the world of difference! Although I am originally from Ireland.

That's a coincidence, I'm originally from Manchester too: Stockport.

I got sorted with Peter in Roath Garage in the end. New MOT and a very nice guy to meet. He had a Tuscan and a very shiny Rolls in at the same time.
