Windscreen wipers just died!

Just got into my car to drive home from work, flicked on my wipers to clear some water off the screen and they died 1/4 up my windscreen. No life or movement at all.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what might be the culprit? (and guidance to fix, or is it a garage job?)
LOL...and I was onlu recently thinking it was strange that I'd gone for more than a fortnight without anything going wrong!!!

Very easy to fit and only took 15 minutes!The park switch is the white coloured bit on the motor which the wires go into.
They are a standard lucas part.
I got a replacement for about £20 (inc postage and VAT) from a mini and minor spares place on the internet www.dsnclassics.co.uk/frame_mini_minor.htm From memory it is part number WPW3008 but would suggest phoning and checking first.
They were very helpful to me and the part arrived the next day (I ordered it by phone in the morning).
Took about 20 minutes to fit and if you release the securing strap (going over the motor) there is just enough slact to fit it in situe.

Quick update...I checked the fuse box in the passenger footwell - all okay. I gave the motor a good blast with WD40...and the wipers moved a little! Took the car on a long run (to get everything completely hot and dry under the bonnet) and they seem to be working fine now! Obviously there was a 'damp' issue as I had washed the car the night before the problem arose.
Is this significant of a dying part or is it just bad luck that some water managed to get under the motor?
