I`m interested to know if you spent say 12k on a LS engine installation in to a Chimaera would you get your money back ,obviously it would have to be a good example

If you spend 5k on a Rover v8 you would not get a lot more for your car on resale ..

Is the a Chimaera with a LS engine worth alot more ?

I don't think you're ever likely to get your money back from modifications

Depends how much you paid for the car in the first place shirly, I think that you would need to get the car for free to make a profit on an LS install though.

In a word no, as it's only worth what someone wants to pay for it. If I was to try and sell mine I'd get not get anything like what's its cost me.

Daz .l reckon most of us would be well out of pocket for what we have spent on our p and j 's . lf you want one and can afford it; get it done. personnely l like a shiny engine bay rather that a horse power one. smile

Go for it daz I believe then you will be alot happier with some decent performance, and with the 6 speed gearbox lower cruise rpm's and better fuel consumption.

Dont worry about whats its worth, if the cars a keeper it shouldnt matter. If its not then dont do it.

I wouldnt even dare to add up my reciepts for this build but as I have no intention of selling and I mean at all its with me for life now. And the fact that how cheap insurance is and the performance you get there is very little else I would buy. Its the only car I have had for over 10 years that still feels amazing and brings a smile to me.

I dont think there are any downsides to the LS conversion and more and more will follow, its the route TVR would of taken IMHO.

it all depends on how careful you are and how much you do or can do yourself

i sold my LS griff last year, ( and i accept that for whatever reason the griffs can sell for more than a chin, but that aside)

i didnt make money on it, but i didn't lose either.... but the installation must be a "proper job" to hold its value

From the research I have been doing the LS swap is a hell of a lot more than £12K!
