So TVR power sell reconditioned AFMs for £300
, whilst racing green and clevor trevor sell new ones for around £170. Anyone know the difference and why a recon one would be more expensive? Anyone had theirs reconditioned or know who can do do it?
Anyone bought the £50 patterned ones on e-bay with any success? Any input greatly welcomed.

They are bog standard Lucas parts- so the rest its TVR tax- £170 sounds about right for a new one. The cheap ones on Ebay are Chinese pattern units. Ive not tested these actual units for accuracy and temperature stability, but the Bosch and Lucas 20 AM copies Ive done where not brilliant. The sensing element response was slower, and they dont take kindly to heat. You can risk your money to try but dont be surprised if you get issues like flat spots. Heres a plot of the Lucas 20 AM versus a pattern unit. The Lucas is the green plot, and you can see the response to a sharp airflow change is faster.
