H/lamp MOT fail - is working & not alignment!

I have a bit of a problem with the nearside lamp. It was failed for "no beam image". The reason there is no image is that there is a 'shroud' or reflector over the bulb, which then reflects back to the main dish. What I don't understand is that there is no shroud on the driver side.
Everything else is fine with the bulb and connection. Does everyone else have this, do I have to argue with the tester?

Sorry should have qualified it has failed nearside only, drivers side is fine. Trouble is that the 'shroud' is part of the headlight assembly. I don't know why its there, it just is. My only theory is that maybe LHD cars have it so you don't blind oncoming traffic. Somehow its on my car but has never failed before.
THe shroud has three legs I can snip off and remove it easily (after taking out the fairing and glass which is a pain!)

I have to say that failing a car on this is a bit picky and not many testers I know would have. Most don't even use the beam tester and if it lights up the right bit of the wall that is generally good enough. Good luck.
to be fair to the tester it should fail. Its a really simple pass fail issue if the pattern isnt there it is a fail.

No ones going to be locked up. I`ve got a new reflector and now produces a very fine beam pattern. Perhaps 'argue' was the wrong word, maybe convince the tester that its a TVR trait. I have a white wall at the end of my garage and its never produced a beam pattern like that on the nearside lamp in the 2 years i've had the car. It has always been diffused light. Anyway should be glad thats all its failed on, after 6 months off the road for body-off chassis restoration.
