If you're considering that why not go the whole hog and fabricate a new smaller battery box to give your passengers more legroom.
I'm 6ft 1 and my feet only just touch the battery box with my legs at full stretch.
You can only do this if the car isn't left for long periods without being on a conditioner though.

i've removed the battery and box etc, it's in the boot now.
Ive just fitted a Megasquirt and relay board down there so need to cover them.
I thought it's too long to touch realistically but wanted something just in case? Just not sure if a foot rest will look at bit too bling, suppose i could drive to somewhere that sells them and try it, but that would be too much effort

Nope, do it.
I had an ali chequer plate box made for my smaller battery and it includes a floor plate to fill the space between the end of the carpet and the box, and a side wall so the ECU can be slid down the side of it.
It looks fine and if anything suits a sports car which we are used to seeing all sorts of ali bits in.

A foot rest is a good idea. Passengering for any distance in any car is more comfortable with somewhere to put your feet and brace yourself against under braking.

As such, but, painted black and clinch nuts to bolt it through the floor, trimmed using the same carpet as the rest of the car. I used that as a template (as I have that same unit in the Vixen racer)...that way it is bespoke, and I'm 6 ft 4, the reason for the battery and fuse board in the boot in the first place..so that my better half could drive on the odd occasion I have a shandy.
