Hi all
Can anyone help me with this. While investigating some erratic running while returning from the LM Classic I found the Vac unit rattling around on the distributor. After properly attaching it and cleaning the Stepper Motor all seems back to normal. (not that I've ever been fully happy with the idling of this car) Nonetheless while ferreting around the distributor I notice that I have a sender with no wire connected? (See picture) Is this not required any more and the sender is a convenient plug? The temp gauge does work and the sender unit for that can be seen in the picture. The pipes to the Plenum chamber heater have been blocked off and removed. Was this part of anti icing system and therefore the sender is not required?

Any ideas? The Car is a 2000 4.5

Thanks Mike H

It's the land rover / range rover sender it's not used until you do the gauge mod

Wow, Thanks for the quick responce. I'll not worry about it then............ But what is the Temp gauge upgrade I'll want to do? I'm interested because my gauge and the read out on the Rover Gauge is considerably different.

Is the problem the position of the sender ? not being in flowing water ? If so why can`t the land Rover one be swopped over ?

Yes Daz it's the flow or lack of it
There 2 different sizes that's why you carnt swap them

Is the land Rover one in a good flow ? Are there any other places a sender could go ? So what are both the thread sizes ?

I'd like to know why the TVR engineers chose not to use the one in the standard block? Anyone know?
There must be some TVR logic behind it somewhere!

Probably because the cheapo gauges they were installing would not run anything like right off the LR sender - the thread size on the top one is 1/8 NPT

Can`t you machine the sender down ?

Better to alter the manifold I carnt see the senders liking going though a lathe and the having a die
Ramed round it
