went down to the garage about 3 hours a go to trial fit the headlight covers. I wasn't intending to fit them until after the weekend as I need the car, but wanted to make sure I was happy with the black cowls rather than painting body colour.
Anyway I think I'm past the point of no return now.
The offside bezel came off easily enough, but the wing nuts were rusted and both bolts sheared off.
Its much more difficult to get to the bolts on the near side, do to the air inlet pipe. eventually realised the bolts weren't there and that the cowl had just been sikaflexed in. PITA to remove with out breaking the cowl, must have been half a tube of the stuff in there!
At this point decided there was no point in putting the bezels back on so removed the lenses and cleared up all the sikaflex.
Trial fitted the new covers and I'm happy with the black cowls. the covers look great on the car.
think I'll also have to shave a bit of the top lip of the surround. But the rest of the job locks pretty straight forward.
