Aluminium Vents?

Hi all,

As part of my MASSIVE upgrade project on my Chimaera (Will post pictures and info later) I’m having some Aluminium vents made to replace the plastic ones on the back of the rear shelf. Hear are spme pictures of them being made.

I will post more pictures when they are in the car but the reason for this thread is to see if anyone else would like some made?

Probably not too much of a market, most folk have replaced them with decent speakers already.

My speakers are placed in between the vents. Is this not common then?

Mine has speakers in the vents, and a hole (made by me) in the middle. What about one vent for that?

Mine has a 6x9 speaker each side with one vent in the middle.

Thanks for the response guys! - I can get made in singles or pairs and the design could vary if required (at an extra cost) I'm not sure exactly how much yet but the more people interested, the cheaper I can get them made!

Just had a thought. Instead of lots of holes, you could have the TVR logo cut out. Might look good.

Also, while we're on the subject of vents and aluminium bits, what have people done about the standard air vents ( the two in front of the gear stick and one at either end of the dash)?, Do leven do anything?

This is possible but would have to check with the copywrite of it?

I will post some pictures tomorrow of them in the car, they look brilliant. I will email the price if anyone is interested in some?

You can JUST about see them in this pic... if needed I can take some close-up ones tomorrow for you..

Hmm… surely the vents are there for a reason...

Yes they are there for a reason. My rear speakers were fitted with a spacer ring with holes in it. This provided the ventilation, but as any hifi nut will confirm, wrecks the sound (no bass as the front and back waves cancel each other out). I sealed the holes up, so now no ventilation, which seemed to give a strange feeling of pressure at speed. If you read the bible, it says the cabin is well sealed and this seems to back it up. Mind, you, I stopped noticing the pressure after a short while.

I have now changed the speakers and sealed them in well then drilled a hole in the middle of the rear panel to replace some of the ventilation. I also filled the space behind with foam, and the resulting sound is good. I guess the hole is small and also some way from the speakers, so I don't get any cancellation effect. Anyone who has weedy sounding rear speakers, this is the cause.
