EU banning all modifications and modified cars!

Dear all TVR petrol heads,
A little off the TVR forum, but If I say nothing there could be no forum in the future.
As you are thinking of putting superchargers, turbo’s, modified EUC’s and chips etc into your cars, has anyone been following the thread in ‘General Gassing’ on the EU banning all modifications and modified cars?

Another great British hobby and associated industries about to die and put 10's of thousands out of work, read the thread, you may be crying in your soup..
Come on Britain ‘grow a pair’ and get out of the EU, ditch the red tape and muppet’s in Brussels with clip boards who only listen to people who could not give a monkeys to the common working class man who is the back bone of business and millions of tax revenue for the government..
What I fail to understand is that the government wants growth, employment, industry expansion, innovation, entrepreneurs , then they bend over for Brussels and watch a complete industry collapse overnight.. Cameron and the other Politicians say Britain has to work harder, when are they going to work harder to protect business and people's investments?
Maybe when the whole motorsport industry is dead and more people join the unemployment queues the government may say, “well that was not a good idea” a bit f*** late pal..

I friend of main who has a family member in Brussel's said they are looking at re-lighting this fire, just wondered if anyone had heard the same.?
Sry for the rant, but living in France,(trying to get back to the UK)I see what te EU has done here, all the after market shops are just like Half**ds and all the engineers and workshops have almost died..

The question is, who benefits from this ?

Who loses ?
Lots of people - car customising is big business, look at how many companies are making wheels, bodykits, exhausts, wrapping materials, retrims, repaints, suspension bits, engine bits and so on. Lots and lots of tax revenue, jobs and so on.
Secondly who is going to uphold this new law ? are the police going to pull you over because you've lowered your car or fitted a different set of wheels ? can't see it, can you ?
DVLA could in theory revoke the vehicle's registration, meaning its not legal to drive on the roads. Except they are being cut back and closing local offices and trying to do everything centrally. They don't have the resources.
To implement and uphold new legislation like this will cost lots of money, for little or no benefit. All this is nothing new, there were rumblings of this sort of thing 30 odd years ago, the most we've had is the SVA/IVA thing come along for kit cars.
Car enthusiasts need to keep an eye on this stuff and raise objections to our MPs / authorities where relevant but we are a long, long way from "the end is nigh".
