Does anyone here run these please?
I've read a few reports of people using them but nothing about any modifications needed?

Last night the car started pi$$ing fuel everywhere and it's because one of the injectors popped out of the rail.
On inspection the Vector injectors are actually smaller than the standard, so there is a poor seal, i'm surprised they hadn't come out before actually.
So i think the only solution is to take off the fuel rail and cut about 6-7mm from the legs, so it is lowered down and will make a good enough seal.

How are other people running these without problem?

Suggest you send Phazed an email - I think he has used them before. Could there be more than one type?

Give Griffdude a shout too; he uses them - I always understood they were a straight swap

I have them... Red top ones. Fit straight in, but you'll need to use new o ring seals and get the car remapped. I think they flow more and have a finer spray pattern.

yeah I had them cleaned, new seals etc.
But they are slightly shorter than the originals, causing the top and bottom seals to not 'seal' properly. Well, from what I can see, work out. Once the seal at the bottom is fully 'popped' in, the O ring on the fuel rail is visible, only half is inside the rail?

I'm wondering if different (older) fuel rails or inlet manifolds might be a slightly different size/shape? Mine's a 93 car, but with a 4.6 and the inlet newer - it is stamped land rover (don't know if they all are?)

Which clips did you use to secure to the fuel rail please? Can you remember?

Brett sounds like you dont have the red 1588's these are exactly the same dimensions as the Lucas/CUX fitted apart from the nozzle end and that dont matter confused trust me when it comes to EFI fuel pressures I would have clocked this detail biggrinhttp://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=...

Are there different types of Vectra red top injectors?

I'll double check mine tonight, they came from something like this

it must be slightly different then as the part numbers match
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=110...

strange….

It's a choice of chopping a few mm out of the fuel rail leg and weld back together or chop down the inlet manifold, I think the fuel rail will be easier.

Are you using the metal retaining clips on the fuel rail?

Erm, chopping the legs will change the angular alignment??????? It's 3dimensional IMHO.

Do you think that removing the few mm to make the seal, maybe 6mm tops, would cause problems? I was going to remove from the middle of the legs so that hopefully there would still be sufficient bend/movement in them to align up properly?

As the legs shorten... the banks effectively move apart (the injectors are set at an angle its not like chopping a box). To keep the lines down the banks you'd probably have to cut the u shaped fuel rail and insert a piece so it has the correct bank separation IYSWIM?

Thanks for the heads up.
I think i'll make a jig type thing from wood first to make sure I can get everything lined up.
What a ball ache, just as I had it running ok…
Starting to loose patience with it now

My Vectras were the same length.

are you sure you are not pushing them too far down in the manifold?

wiggle them up into the fuel rail and clip them in position.

with the fuel rail firmly bolted down, check if they have sealed into the manifold.

^^^^ This. I have them on a pre serp and they fit fine. Assuming you have the right ones locate them in the fuel rail first and fasten in place with the clips, then just offer them into the manifold.

I used the original clips aswell.

Ok thanks guys i'll have another look tonight.
After it started pissing fuel out, I was weary about the seals.
Do the o rings need to be just into the fuel rail, same with the seals on the manifold side.
Maybe they are pushed down too far into the inlet manifold?

If the injectors are located on the clips correctly and the clips located correctly on the fuel rail, they will insert into the fuel rail the correct pre determined amount and should seal no problem.

I fitted Vectra injectors way back in 2010, no modifications necessary whatsoever.

I ran them on the 14CUX with no adjustments and left them in place when I went Canems, the boys from Lloyd Specialist Developments liked the so much they started using them themselves.

There are definitely no physical fitting issues, they are s straight swap with the old original disc type injectors.

Are you guys using the clips from the original fuel rail or the ones from the vectra rail?
Good news that there shouldn't be any modifications but now i've just got to work out whats gone wrong
