pre-serp 3.9 - how many revs ?

Does anyone know how many revs a normal pre serp rover 3.9 is safe to?

I've bought one and don't know whether to refresh it as a relatively normal engine or to build a bit of a screamer. Thing is I don't want to throw loads of money at it. Anyone know what they will go up to? I don't want to change the front cover either, so keeping the dizzy drive for the oil pump which i guess is probably the limiting factor seeing as they don't take kindly to high revs.

6500 should be fine Joo, but even that requires a reasonably 'serviceable' lump?. The bottom ends with ARPs and decent bearings have been used over 7500rpm without issues, never sure whether they are stock or have been rebalanced though? I am assuming you will have a new cam to suit whatever you decide so there wont be any issues there?

I've got some ARP stud kits (mains & heads) even serp covers (just need crank keyway lengthening to convert) you can have for reasonable costs if you want to go higher to various degrees. As you say the cam driven oil pump can be hit/miss & the higher revs will certainly diminish longevity but they are capable of producing quite high psi IIRC .

I'll just rebuild it as it is then, got an mc1 cam fitted apparently so if that still looks ok I'll refresh it.

The stag is keeping the TV8 .. though I have an aftermarket ecu that i'm buying this weekend and that's pencilled in for the stag with the intention of offering an aftermarket kit for them.
