My temperature and I believe my oil pressure gauge appear to be fluctuating a bit, I suspect I have lose connections at the senders, could anybody tell me where they are both located please?

Temperature gauge is bouncing around a fair bit, had the same fault on the 500 I used to own and that was just the connection to the sender but as it was repaired by a local dealer at the time I don't know where it was.

Cheers in advance

Oil pressure sender is mounted adjacent to the oil filter at the front offside of the sump. The water temperature gauge sender is a bit more tricky, it's at the front of the engine tucked in behind the distributor. I found it easiest to slip off the serpentine belt, remove the lower alternator mounting bolt, slacken the upper one & pivot the alternator out of the way, then you can get better access to the sender, it has a single connector, sorry but can't remember the spanner / socket size you'll need. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Richard, sounds like they are both a pain to get at, I guess the oil pressure sender is an under the car job? On the water temperature sender I remamber seeing something that looked like a sender when I did the thermostat but it appeared to have nothing connected to it so it cant have been that, i just hope the original hasnt failed and there's something aftermarket fitted somewhere else.

Oil pressure gauge sender is actually in front of the sump screwed up and into the lower surface of the timing cover. Richard has just described where the pressure switch for the idiot light is smile

Thanks for the clarification.

On the temperature sender is it attached to square plug, I think I've found the sender behind the dizzy and I believe screwed into the inlet manifold?

Gauge sender for coolant temperature screws into a brass hex adaptor that in turn screws horizontally into the front of the inlet manifold right above the thermostat housing/outlet. Has one Lucar (spade) connector generally - there is another sender that drives the ECU but that screws in vertically directly into the top of the inlet manifold more to the nearside and has a two pin mini-timer plug fitting. Then there's the unused LR/RR gauge sender next door to it... but that's another story smile

Thanks Pupp, I'll have another look next time I have it out of the garage.
