Black round things.... Your suggestions please.

Standard on my car were 205/55 15 and 225/50 26, so approx 20 mm bigger diameter than yours.
Toyo T1-Rs are well liked by many as a road tyre. Others will be along with more suggestions.
My suggestion to you, if your description "ditch finders" is an analysis of how it drives, is to take your car to a TVR expert (ie NOT Quikfart) and have a suspension check and 4-wheel alignment done using a Hunter computerised machine. It transformed my dtch finder into a car that's a joy to drive in all conditions on all roads at ll speeds. Costs about £100, the best £100 you will spend.

It's booked in for major surgery at the start of next month, alignment is on the list along with lots of other bits.
It does have some awful tyres on it though, I believe the brand on the front are triangles??!

Not here to give any advice but my car had MOT last month and one advisory of 1 rear tyre so started reading and looking on the threads and did a bit of research.
I don't think it's a good idea just replacing 1 tyre so on the market myself for 2 rear tyres same size as yours.
I am currently on Toyo Proxes T1-S on the rear and T1-R fronts and have had no issues with this set up for road use only.

I then looked at many reviews on this tyre not just applied to TVR cars and all looks pretty positive.
But i can't help thinking I've been happy with the Toyo's why change other than saving £40-50 pounds
So to add confusion to your request does anyone advice T1-S to Rainsport's a bad move.

Yep, I've been running on a full set of Rainsport 2s for some time now and have been extremely happy with them.They got a great revue by chimpongas on his chim.
In the dry they offer superb grip and when it rains they're in a whole different league to all the usual suspects, they wear extremely well too.
TVRs are light cars with wide tyres and that equals aquaplaning, I witnessed a Tuscan destroy itself after aquaplaning on the M1, after seeing that I promised myself my TVR would only get the best rain tyre available.
We live in the UK and it rains a lot, while the TVR has no ABS or traction control we're out there with cars that all have these advantages so when the ABS equipped Audi your following slams on his anchors in the wet you better have the best brakes & tyres you can get or you'll be the instigator of a pile up.
In the last year Uniroyal have replaced the excellent Rainsport 2s with the new Rainsport 3s that seem to be getting rave reviews from those that have traditionally been extremely happy Rainsport 2 customers, so when my 2s wear out I'll probably go to the 3s.
But from what I can see from the way my 2s are wearing, that'll be a long way off yet.
I can't remember what tyres were on mine when I bought it, but the back end was on castors!
I took the car to Des Taylor at Huddersfield Tyre and Exhaust. Des is has been UK drag racing champion several times in different classes. What he doesn't know about tyres isn't worth a dam.
His said straight away, "you need some Uniroyals on that thing", that was probably seven years ago. The same tyres are still on the car and will not need replacing for many more years. Yes, they wear well. They also stick to the road like the preverbal s
t to a blanket.
I am so impressed by Uniroyals in the dry and wet that I have them on the family Volvo and on my work van.
If you live in West Yorkshire, or even the East side of Lancashire you could not have a better day out than to book in to have your tires changes by a racing legend like Des. His current dragster is often either in the workshop or outside and Des will always have time for a chat with a fellow PetrolHead.

Mind you the last owner of my car had it for Seven years and only did 880 miles... Hope your not one of those owners

I do more than 880 miles in a month in my Chimaera.....
....without using it as the daily driver.
It completely amazes me how anyone can own a Chimaera and not drive it at every possible fun opportunity? I have done 15,000 miles since last April (2013), come rain or shine. All of them fun fun fun.

Amazes me also, I did more than he did in my 1st month.
Looking through the history folder he also had one breakdown recovery 2-3 miles from his house.. Guessing he lost some confidence in it.
He was also on the top end of the elderly drivers but not really an excuse as i'm 49 and i'm one of the young guy's when going to meeting.
I was told he simply got as much joy looking at it than driving which I can kind of understand as although I have done just over 8k in mine if I added up the amount of time I've looked at it and polished it then it would probably be more hours than me driving it
