Gaz monos - settle in?
Discussion
Hey All
To the people with Gaz monos, or any suspension really - same question applies.
Do they settle, as in do the get lower once driven on?
Mine hasn't moved since I've fitted them but the front is sitting high, even at the lowest setting (springs uncompressed as much as possible). The rear is ok, about 3 fingers in the space between wheel arch. The front is about 4 or 5 fingers high

If you wind out the spring platforms then the car will sit lower.
If you compress the springs, the car will sit higher.
If your fronts are at their least compressed then they have supplied the wrong tail on the damper body.
Complain to the seller.
They may settle a few mm over years but not to the degree that you need.

I'll give Derek a call tomorrow.
One step forward - two back with this bloody car.
The brakes don't fit with the wheels i've got some time to get some image ones made, just means waiting ages for them to arrive
Brett, I can lend you a set of 17 inch wheels with reasonable road tyres to get you mobile if it will help. One step forward - two back with this bloody car.

Just let me know. You can compare your GGPs with mine ifit will help. Just let me know.

Sorry, meant to say the length of your Monos with my GGPs. Do you want me to measure my GGPs? Monos are very good dampers. Both Phazed and my TVR guy have them fitted on Chims

If you don't mind measuring them that would be great so I can compare and check.
If I can't get the wheels/brakes sorted tomorrow i'll take you up on that but i don't mind driving over, i've got a few other cars I can use, mine and the families.
I'm wondering if maybe there are different height/length springs and these might be an inch too long?
This photo was before I adjusted them as low as possible but it's only a bit lower than this now

They do look too high. I will measure my front damper lengths first thing. I think the spring lengths are irrelevant, but don't really know how to check them anyway as they are compressed on my car.If I can't get the wheels/brakes sorted tomorrow i'll take you up on that but i don't mind driving over, i've got a few other cars I can use, mine and the families.

yeah they are the right way round I made sure when fitting
I thought compressing the springs raises the ride height?
400/500lb springs, i can`t see alot happening except a bit of bone shaking I thought compressing the springs raises the ride height?
As for bone shaking, yes it's a bit firmer than it was, you just need to man up a bit

spoke to Derek today, seems they may have been supplied with the wrong length springs, says to send them back and he'll exchange them for me.
Good, because assuming you are sending the entire dampers and springs that gives him a chance to check the tail lengths on the dampers tooGassing Station | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
