Stainless steel ties!

Had the same problem. Tried using pliers for grip, but not much better.

Photos? The stainless steel ties on the drive shaft gaiters require a special tool, like a pair of pincers, for tightening.

I used good old fashioned stainless lockwire twizzled with some twizzling pliers... maybe my favourite tool

Cossers, long nose pliers and a flat screw driver wind the band against the screwdriver blade with the pliers once you have achieved the desired tightness cut off, but there is a proper windy tool to do this but they both achieve the same ends.

Had the same problem there is a roller/camlock type arrangement where you pull it thro but the tie needs to pull back slightly for the cam lock to bite properly, mine was on heat shield on rubber so it bit enough when pulled against the rubber, if you were to use against a non resilient they would cause a problem, not much help im afraid

Can you/an assistant poke the locking part into place with a thin screwdriver whilst it is held tight at all; to reduce the scope for loosening as it bites?

Twizzling pliers are also my most favouritest tool, I actually enjoy doing random wire runs because of them
