Temperature gauge

Took the car to work yesterday and all was well, got it cleaned whilst there and on the way home my temperature gauge barely moved at all. Might the valeters perhaps disturbed something with the jet wash from the front? When I turn the ignition on it moves but only a little, is there something obvious for me to check?

They'd have to be going some as the sender is pretty well back from anywhere water is likely to have penetrated. Just as a safety measure, worth checking the expansion tank to ensure you still have coolant in; just in case over-energetic jet washing has caused the rad to fail... that is in the firing line obviously.
