Waterproof relay

Can anyone point me to one of these ? I`m going to cure the hot start problem.

Why would you have the relay outside anyway? the relay should be in the cabin Daz relay under the bonnet is just being lazy

You can have my hot start mod Daz......free if you know how to wire it, or can get the instructions, as I no longer have the bit of paper and no longer use the mod.

I`m going to take a feed from the big thick Battery cable on the starter motor in to the relay and use the under performing solenoid cable to trigger the relay . .

Job done .

I suspect he's trying to get the relay as close to the starter motor as he can, he may even be thinking of taking the high amp feed off the starter/battery cable

Who knows the inner workings of the Kid's silicone addled brain

Clearly there are far more suitable relay location options than close to the hot exhaust manifold being rained on by leaking oil from above and road spray & debris from below

Is he solving the hot start problem here as he says, or is he creating a TVR electrical fire problem all of his own making?

Are you saying it is better to follow the solenoid cable back in to the cabin ,bypass it at the Immobiliser and fit a relay . Where would the best place be to pick up a real nice live cable ?

For a second I thought that the plan was going to be putting the relay in a bag of water to keep it cool

There's loads of them on ebay, never seen them sold over here though, they're all sent from china..

Yes that would do the tick,If i knew how to remove the starter solenoid out of the immobiliser i could try that first ,then the relay if needed .

If it were me I'd put the relay under the dash top and make the dash top removable on velcro so you can get to it easily if the relay ever gives trouble.

The best place to take the high amp live from would be...errr .. the battery

Take the low amp switching side from...errr .. the sprung position on the ignition switch

Finish off by running the ECU live off position one on the ignition switch again using a relay.

Run one or both circuits through a hidden switch and the car will be secure too.

Get in, flick your hidden switch, turn the ignition key to position 1 to hear the fuel pump buzz, crank the engine to start then drive away.

Nice and simple, secure, no hot start issues and no immobilisers involved.

All sorted for just a few quid.
