'92 Griff manifolds fitted on a '93 400 HC ?

Hi guys,
have a set of '92 griffith manifolds, plus the Y piece that copes with it. The idea is to fit it on my '93 400 HC Chimaera, in order to get better breathing and more torque under 2,000 rpm (my engine is not very impressive under that, apparently normal for an HC engine...). Of course, would add a 2nd lambda sensor, as the old manifold only have one sensor and my car use a pair.
Seems to be recommended mod by Steve Heath in is book dedicated to Chims.
Does anyone here have already proceeded to this modification? Useful or useless?
Will the Y piece fit the rest of my exhaust? (haven't checked that at the moment).
