Top end noise

A bit of a vague question really I know, but are RV8's quite noisy normally, like a tappety top end noise?

Think i'm probably just paranoid as the oil relief valve got stuck the other day and oil pressure was showing about zero before just pulling over and turning off.
Sorted it now and it's showing decent pressure I think, about 20 on tick over then 30+ on revs.
But I can't really remember what it sounded like before and I'm thinking it's a bit louder than before?
Do different oils make much different to pressure and/or noise? I'm running Fuchs 15w50 race.
Im not particularly bothered if it's normal as it's noisy enough anyway? Just wondering?

Blown exhaust manifold gasket or cracked manifold can cause tappety noises. Hope it's nothing worse than this.

As Hedgehopper says;
Blown manifold gaskets, or a cracked / leaking manifold can sound more 'tappety' than tappets.

gaskets are all new, definitely not that noise i've had that before
it might be normal, it's not overly loud, but it's not that quiet. Drives fine
Pressure all seems ok. I think i'll just get the MOT sorted on Wednesday then see how it goes.
Maybe just a bit paranoid after the oil relief valve problems. It's been off the road for that long it's probably just me thinking it should be quiet like modern engines

You could try reducing the load on each cylinder by running the engine with one plug lead at a time removed. Also try with drive belt removed.

Power steering pumps can sound horrendous if sucking air because of low fluid level.
