MOT emissions pass!!!

Just had my MOT done, Unfortunately failed on the dreadded metal moth!!, But I had a feeling it would and outriggers coming off tonight and new fitted. The chassis is in great condition and the N/S outrigger is a little scaley but sound.
But she passed the emissions test with flying colours........ Without cats!!
I nearly fell over when I heard the words emissions and pass together.
I am now wondering if the fueling is completely wrong or something like that
Has anyone else had this, as I was under the impression that a decatted engine would never pass the test.
And I had an advisory for "Exhaust slightly Loud"

Without cats, I know from a very recent test that it should be way over on CO, HC and Lambda even if you do take a mapper along with you to try and trim it at the same time

As i said I nearly fell over, He even checked the probe was still fitted as he was just as surprised.
He must have measured it against the non cat standards- a few specialist limited production cars where exempt- (I dont think the TVR is one officially though). A CO of 3.5% is the non cat standard- I think there is a grey area between 1992 and 1995- but anything after 1995 needs cats.

that would fail a proper cat test by quite a margin 
in fact your readings are text book pre-cat readings so everything is functioning correctly if you had a cat fitted I am confident it would fly through a proper CAT test

Cheers Simon, My own emissions test is, If i can open the boot and put the roof away without crying, its ok that would fail a proper cat test by quite a margin in fact your readings are text book pre-cat readings so everything is functioning correctly if you had a cat fitted I am confident it would fly through a proper CAT test And I bet there are a few TVR's running round that the same emissions as a Nissan, Honda, Ciroen, Pug or Ford.....
I remember when being stuck in heavy traffic in the eighties was nauseating to say the least 
ks anyways when you got industry puking out much worse pollution 
The worst place I've been recently for pollution was Buenos Aires Argentina where all the taxis seem to be ancient domestic Ford Taurus' or their home brewed version of the Peugeot 504.
Both deeply ugly, both clearly still fueling by carburetor, none of them with a catalytic converter in sight.
Add all this to shocking maintenance and super hot weather in the summer that holds the smog in the city, and it's like Athens in the 1980's.
My eyes were watering the whole time I was there, I also had a permanent sore throat
Fortunately the devastating beauty of local female population accompanied by the wonderful beef steaks & amazing Malbec wines did well to compensate
I'm in no doubt that in a single year just one Buenos Aires taxi generates the same pollution as all the Chimaeras still left on the road.
And there are thousands of stinky taxis in Buenos Aires, one for every 10 Buenos Aires beauties in fact

I think you'll find it was put through as a 'Non Cat' vehicle - mine was - and mine was well within the figures too. Has anyone else had this, as I was under the impression that a decatted engine would never pass the test.

Yeah ... oddly I got that too! No cats and no silencers but it does pop and crackle like a good 'un if you catch the throttle right on the overrun. Look after yourself fella - big hugs to Shelley.
