MX5 Seats, the facts ?

I want to change the seats in my Chim, as to me they are not very compfy, a bit like a bouncy sofa. Idealy i'd like Tuscan seats, but they never come up for sale and when they do they are silly money. So after reading a few threads i've decided to go for Mazda MX5 ones, but there are a few different styles and the ones i like the look of i believe are the 2.5 version (see pic)



Has anyone on here fitted this type of seat to their Chim ? and if so i'd like to know the following:

1) Do you use the Mazda runners or fit the TVR ones to them with or without modification ?
2) Do you use the Mazda seatbelt clip or remove it and use the TVR one ?
3) Are they comfortable and do they give more support over the TVR ones ?

Those seats look really good. But l went down the route of getting my chim seat bottoms refoamed and new stainless fixing underneath to keep everything in place. Well what a transformation, soft but firm,and no more num bum!! when driving across to France.

I know it's off topic but have you thought about fitting Cerbera Mk1 seats? I have them in my Mk3 Chim and I think they are very good and certainly 'more TVR'.

Cerbera seats are a little higher so no use for me.

Do NOT use the seatbelt clip on the seat. The seat bolts to the fibreglass floor and will just rip out.

Id like to do the Cerbera seat thing, and height is not an issue with me!!, but they seem to very rare, or am i looking in the wrong places?.

They turn up on a well known auction site from time to time but inspect carefully... I got a cheap pair but they needed a significant amount of work due to suspected accident damage.

The better known TVR trimmers sometimes have them stashed away - might be wort asking. Link to some pics of mine on my profile.

Forgot to say - agree with the earlier comment about desireability of sitting on something a bit more TVR than Mazda, but each to their own.
Keep the original seats and sell them on with the car (if you can ever be persuaded to part with it) - Best of both worlds.

More Cerbera seats in Chims... They are a tight fit and you need to set the stops so they can't be pushed back into the seat belt spool or the rear screen bolts.



Of course the reason they went in Facelift MK2 Chims was because they ran out of Chim seats and Cerbera ones were available. The same reason why later Sagari have Tuscan seats .

Yep, they are higher than standard Chim/Griff seats. I reckon about 30 mm higher.

I'm quite surprised Daz hasn't been along promoting Intatrim seats, maybe not original TVR but English at least. Mind you I've just ordered a pair and will post pics when fitted, Nick Halstead has also just fitted the same, there's some pics of his on a post somewhere.

Thanks for all the great replies guys, sadly none of them answer my questions lol The Cerb seats dont really do it for me asthetically, though the colour combinations are nice...
