wipers - no slow & no intermittant

Anyone experienced and solved this one? wipers only work on fast speed and as soon as you move the lever to normal speed the blades stop wherever they happen to be. Any ideas where I should look first?

Park switch for stopping mid screen
Delay knob on the steering column cowl for the intermittent wipe?

Do the park switch first, then take it from there. It is likely to be poor connections in the old switch.

Hi.
The wipers on my Chim behaved exactly as you describe when I got the car.
Stripping the motor revealed a severely worn brush plate and a distinct smell of burning.A new brush plate failed to make much difference so in the end a new (reconditioned, new no longer available) motor was purchased and the problem cured,although the wipers are not that good compared to a modern car. Not cheap at £250!!! but better than being caught out in a downpour.
