I wondered that too, the steering is fine up to 20 or 30 mph and then becomes far too light once on the open road.I don't think altering the pulley size would work as I believe that the pump runs at a constant pressure, bleeding off pressure as the revs rise.
Some form of external pressure relief valve might work
Would the steering become heavier if the castor angle was increased? To do this you would need a wider gap in the top wishbone to fit a thicker than the normal 8mm spacer. What is the standard castor angle? I have read that 5 degees is about max. before it starts to effect the camber angle.
There must be a way of having it set around 50% that would be perfect .. I would rather have slightly stiffer steering at low speeds and have less assistants at higher speeds .
I don`t want non powers steering it is just to heavy .

The pas pipes are clipped to the engine so being heated, yet most cars the pas pipes are run to the front and cooled.
Larger alloy pulley on the pas pump.
Flow limiter there must be one built into the pump can it be adjusted eg spring etc
smaller steering wheel ?
A longer pipe run or a oil cooler if it will take the pressure then would reduce flow to the rack
I have packed the rack out, it has helped with tramlining so less twitchy
Replace front tyres to 235 on 16" r888 ?
as I say they are just thoughts........

Unfortunately you'll have to live with it Daz.
I drove a 54 Punto last night, (don't ask!) and the steering had so much feel.
Why couldn't TVR get that right, oh I know, lack of R&D and budget!
I thought you fitted a modified Subaru rack ,did that not help .. The design fault needs to be found and rectified .Unfortunately you'll have to live with it Daz.
