Does anyone know how a BMW Z3M ROADSTER 3.2L 321HP would compare next to a standard 5l Chimaera ? Its in a similar price bracket .

Why not compare a decent chim to a Z4M.

I've often been tempted.

At Curborough sprint a few months back there was a 550 bhp SC Z4M, really quick but still several seconds behind my chim.

I looked at a Z3M before buying my Griff last year. A lot of people are saying these are going to be one of the better future classic car investments. Performance is right up there with a real 320 BHP available, but still not quite as quick as a Chim/Griff, and the engine is bullet proof. The main downside to them is the drop-top suffers from a lot of body flex. The body was really meant as a coupé however must say the roadster has a very pretty shape - and of course all of that BMW engineering underneath - not a bit of Sikaflex in sight! I still made the right decision going for the Griff for all those reasons we on this forum well know.

I foolishly took that route many years ago when I traded in my Griff 500 for a low mileage Z3M Roadster. The car looked good, but in reality it was a sheer disappointment. You sat on the car as it were and not in it, the interior quality was lacking to say the least (windscreen trim falling off). Ride quality was not to hot especially on ridged motorways, road noise was an issue (rear tyre roar), performance compared to a good Griff was definitely lacking and basically it was a DULL car.

I owned the car for less than 6 months and returned to the TVR fold (Luxury and Performance with Excitement), glad to be back with the GRIFFITH 500 - British Bulldog!

No one has mentioned the Z4M, that's in budget now.

A guy at work had a Z4M. Sold it after 6 months as he found it incredibly dull. It was an excellent car, reliable, well built etc, did everything asked of it but still dull. He is now after a Chimaera.

There are plenty of alternative sport cars that in many areas are far superior to the chimaera, however they all lack that sense of occasion that you get from a chimaera or any tvr
