Happy xmas to me ..........

Congratulations! Got my '98 4.0 litre last weekend and can't stop driving / looking at it! Christmas brought Leven dash vents, roof bag and garage cover...
Today I washed and waxed, Zymoled the leather, fitted the vents and rainxed the windscreen. It's become an obsession already! Lake District for the New Year, hope there's not too much snow....

Great to hear you chaps enjoying your new acquisitions.
As a long standing (blue

Easy on the right foot in this weather eh? These cars bite. And when they do bite its not a little nip, Oh no, they tear a great big chunk out of your arse...

Nice one, got my first one this week too (500), ace isnt it. Must admit, I was intersted in getting it louder, but am waiting to meet a few chimaera owners and hear their cars first. Sports exhausts sound very good, but a bit of a price, about £700 from what I've been quoted so far.

Sounds too expensive Steve. Check out ACT Products. I got SuperSports from them, very happy!!!!

Congrats on getting the car! How many people have told you to take it easy in it? Worthwhile bit of advice at this time of year as I bet the last thing you want to do is to reshape it like a banana!
About the exhaust issue, if the receipt from Austec for the 'exhaust modification' is around the £150 mark, then they've modified the rear box. I don't know exactly what the procedure entails but I had similar thing done on my Griff at Fernhursts. I think they cut it open, remove all the crap inside it and then sleeve the perforated pipes inside with solid ones and then weld it all back up. End result is a much louder, and harder exhaust note that really pops/bangs. Great fun in car parks and ultimately much, much cheaper than having a replacement exhaust. A very common modification as well.
Cheers - Chris

Hmmm. What's the score with an MOT and noise limits? £150 seems about right to give myself a birthday present
There are a few threads on this, which are worth doing a search on.
However, as I understand it, there is no noise test as part of the MOT.
No one that I've spoken to who has had the mod done has had any problems with the MOT (it's a common mod for Tivs so TVR specialists must be used to the noise) or the BiB.
I've heard a few examples (most notably SiH's and Trinitycall's) of the exhaust mod and have therefore booked the Chimaera into Austec for the mod early in the New Year.
