I went to fill up a couple of days ago and my usual filling station (approx 800 yards away from my home(lucky me)) was out of Optimax.!!!

I drove around a bit and ended up at a service station selling what was advertised as "advanced fuel" - 77 RON.!!

I only half filled up, as I didn't need a full tank, and hoped to 'top' up with Optimax when my local station got a refill.

As I haven't done the mileage I expected, I still have about a quarter of a tank of the 77 RON "advanced" stuff in the tank, but I need to do a long(ish) journey tomorrow.!!

Is there a problem with mixing what's left of the "advanced" 77 RON stuff with Optimax at 78 RON.??

Err.... that should be 97 and 98 RON! And there is no problem mixing. If you have a 5.0 you MAY get a bit of pinking under heavy load, but with the small amount you have used it would be very unlikley. I know people that use 95 RON in 5.0 and have no problems, yet others pink like mad.

Well as they've been making the cars for the last 10 years and Optimax is relatively new, I wouldn't worry one little bit about it

Unless the 77 is actually Diesel then should be not issues - Optimax every time or Q8 Super (98 as well) then down to the BP 97 Ron if I have to then the 95 normal stuff - will make the car pick up better and run cleaner - and not so likely to pink.
