Odometer back to zero - should I care

I've had my Chimarea since '97 and for (at least) the second time the odometer seems to have failed (now showing 0 miles).
I understand it will pass the MOT whatever the meter says (mine went backward by 30000 miles between MOTs in the past).
In the past I have had replacements fitted but is it worth the hassle? I have no plans to sell.

I'd take photographs now to prove what you know.

So a picture of your last MOT with the mileage sat next to the odo now showing zero.
It just means you have some documentary evidence so you come across as an honest guy who just had a problem, not a shady character trying to hide the real mileage should your circumstances change and you need to sell the car.

I bought mine with a mileage discrepancy for the same reasons, hpi flagged up an issue as did the mots. Buyer was honest and had a receipt for the work, didn't bother me because he was honest about it. Stick a drill on it and wind it up to the proper mileage if you're that bothered.

OP is this the electronic odometer or the mechanical.

I think electronic as gone back to 0.

This then can have an external battery added to the case of the speedo so that this battery can be replaced as a service item, and save the cost of ever stripping the speedo down again! the battery life appears to be in general about 3 years (supposedly 10 years)it does not help if the battery ever goes flat as then, as soon as the car ignition is switched on the 'internal watch battery' drains.
