wishbone removal

Hi hope you all had a Great Christmas.
I want to remove the wish bones front & back to clean them up & paint. Thing is I don't want to destroy all the suspension settings.
Can they be unbolted from the chassis as a pair ie with the stub axle? Or is it better just to do them on the car?

You can unbolt them with out changing the settings. the camber is altered by a nut at the top of the stub axel carrier. Dont touch it and you should be ok. To be honest its probably just as easy to do with them still on the car, but that depends on what exactly your wanting to do.
The other problem is that if you remove them as a unit they are very heavy and quite difficult to manouver, esp the back. This is because the drive shafts have to be disconected, exposing the CV joint end, this is covered in grease, and if you get any dirt in them the joint will go bang very quickly.
To be honest if your going to do a job like this changing the suspension settings is the least of your worries as they should be checked once a year anyway.
