I see the ebay car has turned up on PH

Seems like a good honest deal to me? Am I missing something?
Quite like this as a cool throwaway heap:

Right model, right colour but I don't like the tan interior! Tan compliments green IMHO.
Personally, I'd rather not take the risk. While I appreciate the owner has been upfront and honest about the car's history, I'd be too worried about the fact that it had been involved in an accident and the possible implications of this but then I'm not mechanically minded (apart from the basics!). I'd be much happier paying £3K more and having a (full) service history, mileage confirmation and invoices/receipts for any work undertaken etc. Okay, so you end up spending more for peace of mind but, on the other hand, you'll be able to sell it for more than a car without any paperwork.
Mate of mine always said that whilst he wouldnt have an issue with a saloon/hatch that had been accident repaired, he would never have an accident repaired high performance car. Interesting point.
Anyway, looks a billy bargain if you ask me. Although one thing that seems very strange - the steering wheel....
Even with the adjuster pushing the wheel right up (which with my build I need to have) - my steering wheel doesnt go anything like as horizontal as that one does
is it just me? it looks like a bus steering wheel where its sat so flat

I agree. For example, if I owned a thoroughbred racehorse and it suffered a setback, eg, an illness, but seemingly appeared to make a full recovery, would you be 100% confident that it's future performance would be totally unaffected? I wouldn't be despite assurances from a vet. Just a thought. You're right about the steering wheel. My Trev's is almost vertical (and lower).
well, not everyone can afford 13k-20k for a spotless one with full history.
The seller was honest and the car's history is reflected in the price.
Personally, I had not bought it either, however, someone made a bargain and I wish him/her good luck and a lot of fun
hope you had it checked by a specialist before.
Welcome to the wonderful world of TVRs

I'm inclinded to agree on cars such as Porsche, BMW's etc , but cars built on a chassis, if the chassis's been replaced along with other affected parts the cant really see a problem. Not my bag, but I know plenty on here reackon a repaired ones better than one to come out of blackpool! and never pay more than 60% of what it would have been worth unrrecorded otherwise it'll end in tears when you come to sell
Looks like someones bought it. I'm sure we'll be reading about the accident soon....looks and sounds like a deathtrap to me.
And like Shnozz, I think that steering wheel gives a nasty clue. To have no history is a tell tale sign, it's been lost for some reason.
BB, why the editing, if it saves someones ass, then you should be applauding it, not censoring it.

I am the new owner of this car
I purchased it from justin banks for decent price
I have done all the checks i can and he made me fully aware of its history
It is with a mechanic friend of mine being looked at. After this has been done it is off to mole valley for an ultra expert look
I will also check with autoline to be absolutely sure it is ok
Having driven a few of these before it drove rather well
It was purchased for a summer project and tracing all the history will be a bit of fun
Any help or advice will be appreciated
thanks

ps i detest the wood steering wheel, that is first on my list to change, then the nastly black dash

David,
Theres a wheel on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9886&item=7943972831&rd=1
I wouldn't pay too much for it as they turn up fairly regularly and go for around £50 although that one does have the horn on it, I'd say that adds about £15. You will probably be able to sell the wood one for more.
Gareth.
PS. looks like a good deal on the car.
