Yet another brakes question!
Discussion
Hi all, I just wanted to know what modifications were needed (if any) to fit the 2wd Cosworth front 4 pot calipers, as this will allow a 283mm disc under a 15" wheel, I have 240mm at present. will i need to space the carrier on the standard hub or will they just bolt on. I know there is another bracket for the 888-887 calipers but you have to grind the carrier away and 4 pot will be slightly better.
Thanks in advance

Trust me Jamie dont bother (been there got the shirt) they are heavy not a particularly big pad swept area either for 4 pot
I purchased them rebuilt them before realizing my mistake and moved them on years ago now
your car is an original 240mm fr brake system like mine was which means machining to much off the mounting lugs leaving them dangerously thin IMO this hub caliper combo was not fitted to the original whale tail Cossy they used a different hub/bearing carrier anyway, easier fr brake upgrades out there I have never overwhelmed the brakes on my car and I can drive very hard at times
I use stock Motorcraft/gen Ford pads front and rear
get what you pay for and the pad material was specced to the intended performance car rather than just a general one friction material suites all method thus avoiding the downsides of fast road stuff and their potential down sides i.e dust and noise.

Go for the 283 discs and Granny Cossy calipers its a piece of piss for a man of your means.
Cheers mate
I presume thats the 887,888 calipers?. It gets a little confusing reading through the posts, as so many people have fitted so many variations of the same thing.
Hows your engine build going, nearly there are leaving it until after the festive season?

Yep 887/888 you will need to drill the hub lugs 2mm bigger 10 to 12mm IIRC and 2mm washers/spacers between each caliper lug and hub lugs and relieve casting flash on the caliper piston body inner to accommodate the bigger disc
