Hi,
Just a little story that may help someone in the future. I have a 2000 4.0 Chim that I have owned for at least 7 years . It has done 42k and has been pretty much trouble free for all of that Time.
I had the car serviced at Matt Smith's as usual at the end of Oct together with an MoT, No adviseries either. Car was running very well but in my infinite wisdom I decided that as the existing Magnacore HT leads were looking a bit dirty and 'Used' as I have never replaced them or any other item on the ignition system since I had owned the car. Probably all original.
So I thought I would go to town and buy the lot, Leads, Ign Amp, Coil, Rotor arm and Dizzy cap.
The existing components hadn't shown any issues but I thought if nothing else they would look nice and shiny and pre-empt a future failure with new parts.
I thought I would be canny and only change one bit at a time so if there were any issues with new parts I would at least know it was probably the last bit changed. There are often posts on here stating newly changed parts have caused problems i.e Ign Amp, Rotor arms etc
It was a nice day around 6 weeks ago so I thought a good day to start the process. But as itwas such a good day I got carried away and changed all of the parts and took it for a test drive.
At first all was well but after a few days it wasnt running properly, very hesitant and it didnt feel right.
So I started replacing each new part one at a time back to the original part. I reached the stage that all of the original parts were back on and I still had the problem. Very hesitant at times and it didn't sound right either , no pops or bangs on over run etc. The only new part left on the car was the King lead as the original was very corroded where it plugs into the dizzy cap.
I was thinking what to do next when I remembered that I had filled up with Tesco 99 the day before I started to change to the new parts. Where I live only there is only one garage and it's a Tesco and I always use their Momentum. Never had any issues with any of my cars and especially the Chim over 7 years.
Anyway this morning I had to fill up again and I used the same Tesco and used Momentum again.
After a longish drive I think I may now have my old car back. Feels right and sounds right.
A couple of weeks will confirm as I only use it one or twice a week and not if wet or icy but it could just be down to a tank full of dodgy Tesco petrol.
So I have a box full of new parts that I now probably will not use on the car for a while but all of the old parts are now clean and look better in the engine compartment.
Not sure what the moral is to this if there is one but I am glad that it appears that all is sorted.

Folks don't discount the Tesco petrol theory.
Going up to STR8Six back in the summer for 12K service on my car (Tuscan) and heading up to A34 from M3. Needed some 'full' throttle acceleration to get past trucks on St. Giles' hill and noticed a bit of a pink. Tank was low'ish so went in to Sutton Scotney Shell, filled up with V-max and problem solved.
Just wonder if sometimes supermarket deliveries are as well segregated as 'branded' petrol stations?
