fuel tank to pump pipe

Im not keen on the location of this pipe and want to change it anyway just as a maintenance job and wondered has anyone done something better than the original.
At the moment its 2 short rubber hoses and a solid metal crossover pipe to take it over the wishbone which isn't the best design, ideally id like to do it in one pipe.
Ive got some 12mm id hose but its a little too close for comfort where it runs over the wishbone, its difficult to shape it to hold it up slightly too.
I thought of moving the pump but there isn't much room down there so just wondered has anyone changed theirs?
