Defective Lambda Sensor

Hi All,

Recently got Rovergauge and once hooked up spotted that the short term trim on the even bank was constantly at 100% once the engine had warmed up a bit. Suspecting the lambda sensor I swapped them over and fired her up and hey presto it's now the odd bank that's at a constant 100%.

Subsequently I bought a new lambda sensor from eBay and swapped it in for the defective one but the odd bank is still trimming to a constant 100% - just to check I swapped them again and it's now the even bank that's at 100%....

I'm presuming that the sensor I bought off eBay is defective and I need to contact the seller to swap it over? There's nothing else that could be causing this is there?

The good news is that I'm becoming a dab hand at replacing sensors!

if your saying that the known good sensor seems to work fine on both banks then it must be a bad sensor.
Im not sure how fussy the rover engine is with 02 sensors but my past experience with other cars is fit oe spec from the likes of ngk etc.

You need to do an ECU reset before passing judgment as it will still have the old long trim values from the faulty sensor. The probe must be the correct type- but I assume you have a Range Rover one as there are not a lot of 12mm ones around of the wrong type- Mind you even with the wrong trim values you should see the short term trim move- it should never be stuck at 100% with no cycling at all. A few tricks here you can try:
