Now it has got a bit cold, I have noticed a draught in the old girl.

I have a gap between the rear edge of the window glass and the rubber on the roof hoop.

The gap is only at the bottom so adjusting the door to pull in more isn't really an option.

Is it a case of TADTS ?

On mine the hoop seal extends down a bit further than normal so when the door is shut the door squashes the seal and also squashes against the window. Hope this makes sense.

Can you post a pic and I'll try to help more.

I hope this pic shows the problem.

This is the passenger side, but drivers side is nearly as bad.

I sometimes have to lower and raise the passenger window after door has shut as it catches the rubber along the roof. This had already been done in the picture

Hard to tell from the pic. but looks like your door needs moving as it seems to be proud of the body.

Other than that you can move the glass runner to pull the glass in a bit.

Door is quite flush with body work and the glass touches at the top.

The door is already squashing all the other seals quite hard.

How do you 'move the glass runner'

It looks like the glass is outside the seal on the top too, I have one side that fits better than the other but I find closing the door pushing on the top edge of the window so it slips under the roof seal helps a bit. wink

It wont go in any more.

Has any one 'adjusted' the front window guide (bending it I mean)

Maybe I need to 'bend' mine out a bit and then move door adjust in ?

Frightening thing to do though.

Does anybody else have the same gap ?

It is possible to move the runner fixings.

Your window seems to be squashing the top seal and not very evenly either. Window may need re-seating in its clamp and the height limit screw adjusted.

Alex, thanks.
It may be possible. Is there adjustment or would I need to elongate holes ?
This however could only move the top of the window as the bottom is governed by the door itself.
I am not sure I understand the second view angle.

I know how to adjust the vertical limit by the hidden screw.

It actually seems to me that the rubber hoop seal needs to be angle out more at the bottom somehow, to make more contact.

Does everybody else have good contact along the whole height of the hoop seal ?

That's mine...

Passenger side isn't quite as snug at the top but than can be how the roof is fitted.

I can only agree with what has already been said.

It does look like the seal on the roof top could be holding the window away, if it isn't this the glass could have moved out of the rubber in the runner, or the rubber worn.

Mine is flush all the way up. I'm afraid it's time to take the door trim off and have a look to see what's going on. My gut feeling is the window is not in the rubber / runner correctly.

If the front aluminum A frame is flush-ish with the front screen then this doesn't need to be adjusted. Personally I wouldn't touch this until I'd worked out what the issue is at the other end.

on the Tamora the end caps fitted to the door has a raised flap that takes up this gap, the Chimaera end cap is flush with the top of the door, could a Tamora end cap be trimmed to fit the Chimaera?

''I am not sure I understand the second view angle.''

The second pic is looking upwards into the top rear corner of the nearside door.

I can't think of any reason why the runner would have moved (unless the fixing has come loose). As said before maybe the felt runners have become misplaced.

This is the passenger side, but drivers side is nearly as bad.

This should be a very easy fix:

1. Make 100% sure your targa top is correctly seated in the header rail before attempting any adjustment

2. Lower the door glass to the bottom of it's travel

3. Part the nylon bristles on the door seal to reveal the brass window height stop screw

4. Turn the screw clockwise or ant-clock (can't remember which) to get the door glass to stop lower

5. Raise the door glass and check it's new fully up position by carefully attempting to close the door while observing the relationship between the horizontal targa seal and the top edge of the glass

6. Re-adjust the brass stop screw until the top edge of the glass just brushes the targa seal when you close the door - repeat steps 4 & 5 as necessary to get that perfect fit

What you'll find is the door glass will now sit flat against the vertical hood seal, this is because it's no longer being held away by the top of the window fouling on the targa seal as shown in your original photo.

The whole process should only take 5 minutes and will make a massive difference to wind noise and temperature inside the cabin on a cold day.

Should the top of the door glass fail to sit perfectly parallel to the horizontal targa seal you're into another set of adjustments that are a little more involved, but that's for another post.

The Chimaera roof design is very good for a basic frameless window convertible arrangement, but only if you patiently take time to get the adjustment spot on and you ensure the targa top is always seated properly in the header rail when you replace it.

This is also a good time to review the condition of your seals and they often go flat over time, the seals are not particularly expensive so if you're in any doubt of their condition, replace with new.

If you get the adjustment right the window fit to both the vertical hood seal & the horizontal taga seal should both look something like this when the door is fully shut:

Good luck with it, Dave.

Solved !

It actually wasn't any of the above (thanks though everybody)

The counter sunk socket head (Allen) screw was very loose at the pivot of the hoop.

When tightened up it pulled the hoop out a good 5 mm and closed the gap nicely.

The drivers side is tight however so will need investigate further on that side.

The window to door seal (outside the glass) is coming away and I can see a gap in the middle, so I guess its door card off time. Urrgh not done that before and I am not the most flexible of people.

I use a ratchet spanner which I find easier, unless some kind soul has already changed them to wing nuts. smile

Glad you got one side sorted at least.
